Media notes
Character 4. Upper antemolar row (AA): antemolars number: five (0); four (1); three (2); two (3). Remarks: Ordered. Fossil data shows complete antemolar upper and lower rows compare to extant representatives of the modern subfamilies. Most ancient soricid like Srinitium (Crocidosoricinae) from European middle-late Oligocene consists of three-five lower antemolars (a1–a3, see Hugueney, 1976; or a1–a5, see Ziegler, 1998). The upper antemolar number of Srinitium is still unknown but we can suppose not less than five antemolars. Thus, the character states ordered from five-toothed state in outgroup species (Sorex) (Character 004: A) to four-tooted Neomys (outgroup), Myosorex, Sylvisorex and Suncus (Character 004: B), three-toothed Crocidura (Character 004: C), two-toothed state in Diplomesodon (Character 004: D). Previous authors used this character for phylogenetic analysis of extinct/extant Soricinae (Rofes & Cuenca-Bescós, 2009: character #4) and extinct Crocidosoricinae (Hugueney & Maridet, 2011: character #20). For details see S8.
