Media notes
Character 10. A1 (root): lateral groove: absent (0); present (1); inapplicable (-). Remarks: Unordered. Outgroup Sorex species and some ingroup species (e.g. M. okuensis, S. megalura, S. johnstoni, C. jouvenetae, etc.) have a lateral groove (well-developed or weak) (Character 010: B). The lateral groove in other ingroup species is absent (Character 010: A). This character is inapplicable for N. fodiens and S. murinus (Character 010: C) due to these species have well-developed second root remnant [character 11, st. 2]. For details see S8.
