Outgroup Sorex species and most ingroup species display an absence of a posterior margin notch of A3 (Character 018: A). Outgroup Neomys species and seven ingroup species, S. etruscus, C. jouvenetae, C. obscurior, C. yaldeni, C. serezkyensis, C. sapaensis, C. zaitsevi display a presence of the posterior notch (Character 018: B). This character is inapplicable for D. pulchellum due to two-toothed dental formula [character 4, st. 3]. For details see S8.
