Character 8. A1 (crown): posterior margin shape: relatively continual and straight cingulum-like margin (0); posterior margin with a gap between ento- and ectocingula ends (1); posterior margin with a gap between the cingula ends and a posterocrista contact (2).
Remarks: Unordered. Outgroup Sorex species (clear character state) and several ingroup species (e.g. S. johnstoni, C. olivieri, C. obscurior) display relatively continual and straight (slightly arched upwards) posterior margin with some resemblance of a cingulum (Character 008: A); in C. olivieri and C. obscurior the cingulum-like margin is very weak due to contact of A2 (A2 lay in a 'bed'), but we anyway scored this feature as a state 0. Most ingroup species display well-distinguished gap between ends of ecto- and entocingula (Character 008: B). Outgroup Neomys species and several ingroup species (e.g. M. okuensis, S. murinus, C. lasiura, C. leucodon, C. serezkyensis, C. zarudnyi, C. phanluongi, C. sapaensis, C. zaitsevi, D. pulchellum) display rare state with the gap between cingula and contact of the posterocrista with ectocingulum (Character 008: C).
