Character 40. M3 (crown): stylar shelf development: reduced (0); developed (1). Remarks: Unordered. Eight ingroup species, S. etruscus, S. johnstoni, C. jouvenetae, C. olivieri, C. leucodon, C. phanluongi, C. zaitsevi, D. pulchellum display a shallow 'anterior' stylar shelf that lay buccally of the paracone. The shelf of these species is reduced in size (Character 040: A). Outgroup species and other ingroup species display more or less developed the stylar shelf (Character 040: B). For details see S8.
