Character 45. Skull: lacrimal foramen position: anterior (0); middle (1); extruded anteriorly (2).
Remarks: Unordered. Outgroup species and eight ingroup species, M. okuensis, S. murinus, S. johnstoni, C. yaldeni, C. lasiura, C. leucodon, C. phanluongi, D. pulchellum display an anterior position of the lacrimal foramen on the lateral wall of the infraorbital canal (Character 045: A). Three ingroup species, S. etruscus, S. megalura, C. obscurior display a middle position of the lacrimal foramen (Character 045: B). Six ingroup species, C. jouvenetae, C. olivieri, C. serezkyensis, C. zarudnyi, C. sapaensis, C. zaitsevi display an anterior extruding of the foramen (Character 045: C), when an anterior outline of the lateral wall is arched.
